Wheel Thrown Pottery

24# of stoneware clay, glaze, and firing is included

In this class, you will learn the basic techniques of throwing clay on the potters’ wheel.  You will go through all the steps of creating clay forms from the initial step of centering the clay to making forms such as cylinders, bowls, plates, mugs, and pitchers. You will learn how to use the various tools involved in the throwing process, as well as how to trim, glaze, and fire your creations.  Whether you are a beginner or if you have some experience with working on the pottery wheel, you’ll be sure to enjoy learning and being creative with this exciting medium!

Patty Leyden has been creating functional, wheel-thrown pottery for over 30 years. She has been taught at the Lafayette Museum of Art and was in charge of the Artist Own Art Co-Op. You can read more about Patty’s experience here.
