ONE TIME WORKSHOP ON POTTERY WHEEL: TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 2024, 6-7:30 PM

SPRING/SUMMER “JUST TRY IT” WHEEL THROWN POTTERY WORKSHOP—This is a one-day 1 1/2-hour session, Cost: $50 Members/ $60 Non-members

Ages: 12+ (unless parent accompanied, may make exception to age). 7 students per session maximum. All materials included: clay, glazes, tools, firing, aprons, and instruction. This will be a group workshop.

Have you always wanted to try wheel thrown pottery? Try out our intro to wheel throwing class aimed for students to have fun and get messy! No expectations, facilitated by an instructor to help guide you in the process of throwing.

Tuesday, June 18th at 6 pm — 7:30 pm THIS ONE

Future:
Saturday, June 22nd at 2 pm — 3:30 pm
Saturday, June 29th 2 pm — 3:30 pm

Schedule:
10 mins-Demonstration will begin right away
1 Hour 10 mins-pottery wheel play time
10 mins-clean up, choose glaze, label pieces

Disclaimer-
Classes are messy, wear appropriate clothing, aprons will be provided. If it’s your first time on the wheel, you may not end up with a finished piece. Clay designs will not be complete day of the workshop. Drying, firing, and glazing take up to 3 weeks. EAL Staff will glaze and trim finished pieces for you with your preferred color. Classes are non-refundable. Students are paying for the experience to use the pottery wheel, and not the finished product.

Location: Elkhart Art League Studio, 132 Tyler Street, Elkhart IN 46516 in the west end of the Depot Building South of the Elkhart Post Office

WORKSHOP SIZE IS STRICTLY LIMITED TO 7-10 STUDENTS DUE TO THE NUMBER OF POTTERY WHEELS IN THE STUDIO.

INSTRUCTOR BIO: Lauren Morales is our  Wheel Thrown Pottery teacher. She has a Bachelor of FIne Art in Ceramics from Goshen College and taught in the Goshen Community Schools and at the Boys & Girls Clubs, and she is currently a teacher in the Elkhart Community School District. She is a certified teacher and visual arts artist, her specialty being acrylic custom jewelry which she sells at local shows and her Etsy and FaceBook sites under the business Moon+Flower Studio.
