INTRO TO CLAY AND POTTERY WHEEL TEEN SUMMER CAMP (2 WEEK SESSION, 6 DAYS TOTAL) WITH LAUREN MORALES 12:30-3:30 three days per week, two weeks.

Camp Dates:  WEEK 1: Tues. June 13, Wed. June 14, and Thurs. June 15 AND WEEK 2: Tues. June 20, Wed. June 21, and Thurs. June 22.  Time: 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm.  Class size is limited to 7 students.

Workshop is for ages 13 to 18 years, junior high and high school students of all skill levels.  Held at the Elkhart Art League Studio, 131 Tyler St.,1-B, Elkhart IN 46516 (South of Elkhart Post Office)

Workshop Fee: $125 for six sessions for Members or $135 for six sessions for Non-Members.  No experience needed, all materials and equipment provided.  Email us at mail@ealonline.org for more info.

Class Description: Week 1 Introduction to clay, the kinds, stages, techniques, tools, do’s and don’ts, clean up procedures. Plan your project. Work with Hand Building. Move to wheel, learn how to prepare clay for Potter’s wheel, clean and dry pieces for firing, final project will be either wheel or hand build, goal is to complete your pieces to take them home. Week 2, review week 1, discuss “glows and grows”, learn about glaze, wax resist, begin glazing, understand the kiln, more practice hand building and wheel throwing. Make extra pieces as time allows.

Teacher Biography: Lauren Morales, BFA 2010 Goshen College, certified teacher for Goshen Schools Middle School Art Teacher, Boys & Girsl Clubs, Center for Healing and Hope,

Lauren is a jewelry artist and designer of hand formed, metal-smithed jewelry with a minimalist approach. She sells her creations on etsy and participates in local art events (including Art Beat-South Bend, Rebel Art Festival, Arts on the Millrace, and Arts on Main). She volunteers extensively in the local community. Her talents include painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry/metalsmithing, figure drawing, photography, broadcast media production, art director, props/set designer,   Lauren is bilingual, certified for public and home school students. Her works can be seen on FaceBook under Moon+Flower and on Etsy under moonflowerstudio3.
