This workshop is for adult beginner and intermediate students.
In this one-time workshop, you’ll learn the basics of batik – a wax resist on fabric and create a beautiful silk scarf using the fascinating process of fabric dyeing and wax batik. After applying wax with traditional tjanting tools and brushes to fabric, we will dye using fiber dyes. You’ll be sent home with a scarf and directions for removing the wax. You will create a wearable scarf with this design or create your own. You’ll also receive samples of different techniques. These scarves make great gifts, and forever learning means you will have the skills to make many more. It is great fun for a Saturday, so come with a friend or come and make new acquaintences!
