Batik Silk Scarf (two-day workshop) 101 beginner’s

Times: 10:00 – 3:00 (bring a lunch)
Supplies: $20 paid to instructor
The first day we will be busy creating a beautiful one of a kind 11 x60 silk scarf using soy wax, dyes, tjanting tools along with brushes. In addition, we will also be dying sample cloth made out of cotton, silk to be used the next day in a wide variety of projects. In this session you will learn about dyes, waxes and techniques
Day 2: The sample cloth we made the day before will become our creative play day. We will be using thickened dyes, gelli- plates, stamps and odd tools etc. We will be building layers and doing playful original designs on each sample.
Ellen Ridenhour has a BFA degree from The Raclin School of the Arts from Indiana University in South Bend, Indiana. Ridenour has shown her work in numerous exhibitions and has won many awards in her photography, printmaking, fiber and encaustic works. She is a forever student in the arts and has taken workshops in marbleizing, encaustic, fiber art, and letter press.
